Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. James 4:13-16
"This family is gold!" This is Meghan's latest description of our family and the crazy life we are living. She blurts this out any time I'm having an episode about traffic, Spouse's driving, etc. It's awesome.
Quick update: (Quick?! Yah, right! I'm on the road. I've got all kinds of time. Chuckle now.)
Update:
So, Friday night Spouse comes home and says we need to have a family meeting. Bless. What is it now?! He is wondering what it would take for us to go home for the month of June, get prepared (in faith) for Manila, and come back to an apartment or condo in Houston until time to go. (Tara Parker, this is with the understanding that we would be home for a week in August!)
This may have been the worst family meeting we've had in a while. Dude had 3 girls calling out a list of demands!
"I want to go see my friends!"
"I thought we were going home next week?"
"Will this get us to Manila faster?"
"How long will we be home?"
"I want to bring back my bike."
"There is no good beaches here, Dad!"
"Will we have to do school when we come back?"
"What about....?"
"Dude, we are flying!" --I won't say who said this one.
You don't have to be a swift reader to pick up all the "I"'s in these statements.
We had some time to pray and work through it. We read the call of Abraham again. And, once again, I'm empathetic to "Princess" Sarah. Bless.
Well, once we got our act together, we realized that this means we can star in our very own House Hunters Houston! Looking for an apartment, fully furnished, in the city that we don't have to pay for? Boom. Sign us up.
We busted out the trusty iCal. We will leave on June 1st. Get home, get our act together and sell, rent, store our stuff. We will come back to H-town in July and wait. Oh, I how I love the wait. :)
Another game changer happened: we lost our favorite Superhero, Mike, yesterday. He had a well-lived, albeit short life here with us. So bittersweet.
Instead of leaving June 1st, we left today! We are hoping to be home tomorrow (Wednesday) night. We will see. We don't know how long we will be home.
We are (sort of) getting accustomed to laughing and saying, "We don't know what our family is doing or where we are going!"
God does.

Dude. I am so glad.
Although this is a short catch up as to what's going on, I think a date with you guys is needed asap! :) I'm still so happy for what God is doing and some parts of me loves the spontaneity of your life! ha
